Might be a bit early still? Buddy is driving down from ANC today & taking the ferry over to ADQ. He has blocked out 15 days if need be for Dead Man Bay. Another guy I know will be heading over shortly as well for Kiluda Bay. I wish I was going but a nasty four letter word got in the way! "WORK". I am sure someone went a bit earlier & has a good story to share.

I just came over on the ferry from Homer yesterday with my son to do a hunt in Sharatine (SP) bay starting this Sunday through the 10Th of May if need be.
There is still a lot of snow in the area we will be in so It might take awhile to see one!!
None the less it will be a great time to share with my son .
I Also brought my Raft to do a little fishing during the slow moments .Got to love those Beavers !!!!!
Pictures to follow.

Watch the snow conditions
I drove out the road down past Pasagshack last weekend stopping and glassing/spotting the slopes along the way. Didn't see a single set of tracks the whole way. Normally they're easy to see even up high as they sidehill the snowy slopes. Still quite a bit of snow, BUT this past week has been warm with some rain too. Lost a LOT of snow. I would have loved to go looking today, but had other things I had to do.
Those of you going out, be VERY CAREFULL on the snowy slopes. The heavy wet snow has broken loose on many of the mountain slopes. You've seen it before....big surface slabs of snow that broke loose in a slide. I'd hate to see one of you hunters buried in one of those slides. So use your heads, and check the snow conditions. Getting a bear ain't worth it.
With that said, good luck!
Mike
