i was out hiking above anchorage this morning, found fresh black bear tracks along campbell creek headwaters....their comin out

Depends on the year and weather - Spent 3 days down there May 1st one year and didn't see anything. Went back 2 weeks later and saw lots of bears in a few days. Snow and temp make the difference.

Depends on late snow fall, but usually the first weekend in May is a good time.

From my VERY limited experience (one trip) I'd say about the 1st of May.

What is the earliest you would recomend dragging the boat down there to start searching for bears?

When do they usually start poking around outside the den?

I usually leave the boat there all "Summer", but want to come down earlier this year.
