    It was a burn area. And that was in the early part of the 20th century, some duke or count who was being guided by Andy Simons off Tustumena. Many of the photos and movies taken of his guiding show burned off areas.
    People are the answer and the problem: they need to take more bears, but there are just too many hunters for the resource.

    That pic looks suspiciously like a burn area, which as has been noted in the Tustumena thread to be very very bad for moose......how have they survived since that time if there were fires even back then? (insert sarcastic emoticon)
