 So I missed the Unit 13 caribou registration by a week and am now forced to look elsewhere for an opportunity to bag a bou this year. I would love some general ideas/directions about where I should go! I have a 4wd truck and I can't afford a plane or a week off but I have a nice pack and can hike miles for a nice bou! Thanks in advance!

General Season Caribou Tips?!

General season caribou from the road is a tough nut to crack. You could try the registration hunt off the Steese or Taylor Highways (40 Mile herd), but you'll need to be in position on day one, as that hunt often closes quickly. Other than that, you'd be looking at driving up the Haul Road north of the Brooks Range, and without the ability to take some time off, that's not really a viable option.
