Hey all, What's the best rifle for a hunting Game?

  • #2
Only accurate rifles are Best for hunting.

As for all around Hunting , and since your not being specific, I'll venture to say a 30-06, a .22LR and a 12 gauge shot gun are what you need.
If you can't Kill it with a 30-06, you should Hide.:topjob:

What kind of a hunting game did you have in mind?

Yeah, what kind of game? Like, Robert Hansen style or more like something the Duck Dynasty guys would play?

depends on the game and distance. the 30/06 my choice locked n loaded

depends on the game. if your talking caribou, moose, black and brownies, under 150 yds, the 30/06 is my got to bring out round. 150 gr caribou, 180 gr moose, black and brownies. farther out I'd get a magnum belt. but, I prefer not to pound rounds any farther than 150. the 180 gr in the '06 does me wonders. I own a marlin 45/70 micro-groove but it's just for 100 yd and less. also, my 375 jdj in a tc contender ranks as a 100 yd or less round also. I personally wont take shots past 100 up to 150 yds. up close and personal is what I prefer. if you launch founds farther, get a magnum.

ALASKA is a "HARD COUNTRY for OLDMEN". (But if you live it wide'ass open, balls'to the wall, the pedal floored, full throttle, it is a delightful place, to finally just sit-back and savor those memories while sipping Tequila).

Thanks for your advice, I'll visit my LGS tomorrow. Which one of those rifles would be best for my wife? She's right eye dominant but one leg is a little shorter than the other? I'll be flying to the ferry and driving through Canada. How much will it cost me to bring those guns on the bus? Do I have to be a resident to shoot in such a game, or will I have to wait a few weeks first? How do I prove my residency; can I just show them my Alaska Airlines boarding pass? Where is a good place to play a game near Anchorage? I'm not looking for anyone's secret honey hole, I would just like to get the kids onto some this weekend.
