I can't find anything on line about how the herd did this last winter and if Fish and Game has done a count. Has anyone else heard or seen anything? It is quite possible I don't know where to look so I appreciate everyone's help.

Nelchina Caribou Herd
I saw about 40 between tangle lakes and rock creek heading east 3 weeks ago. The bulls antlers were already standing out against the cows. The bio did tell me that the herd kinda split into 3 mini herds and one of them over wintered between eureka and lake Louise rather than travel northeast. I think this winter should have been a lot easier on then. And the early spring in particular should have hopefully made travel easier for the calves migrating back. The band of about 30 that I saw had to have been 40% calves. It's all anecdotal till they fly the survey and give us real numbers.
