  • PWS Black Bear

Decided to hit the sound this weekend to get some shrimp and look for a bear. I was lucky enough to find this guy. Most satisfying part for me was if was my first animal with my own handloads. Shot was about 100 yards. 270wsm 150gr nosler partition. Bear dropped on impact, rolled down the hill into a creek. Bear sqared 5'9"

Congrats. Always more satisfying when you built some of the gear....kinda like catching a wild trout on a hand-tied pheasant tail nymph with feathers from a bird you took. How was the shrimping?

      Congratulations, nice looking bear.
ALASKA is a "HARD COUNTRY for OLDMEN". (But if you live it wide'ass open, it is a delightful place to finally just sit-back and savor those memories while sipping Tequila).
