With my brand new daughter. This makes the 5th year in a row that some major event or pre-planned obstacle has happened right at the beginning of spring bear season. The birth more than made up for excitement, though. My wife went into labor so quick that we didn't even have time to make it into the car to go to the hospital. We had to have her right at home with 911 dispatch on speakerphone talking me through what to do. I've never had a more nerve wracking, terrifying experience in my life but everything turned out fine. She had the baby before the paramedics could even get to our house. I never thought I'd have the chance or need to do that in my life, but I can wear that as a badge of honor for the rest of my life and God forbid, help out if a similar situation ever happens to someone else. I've never had the weird 'adrenaline calm' under pressure like that before.

Anyways, I guess this doesn't have a whole lot to do with hunting, but 'proud Dad' doesn't begin to describe me right now so I cant help it. I'll shorten my usual rant about safety and ethics; please everybody be safe and responsible out there and don't go alone if possible. Good luck and happy hunting to all you who are heading into the field (especially barrowdave who is taking over my usual bait site since I'll be spending my weekends at home for a while).
