  • Final Prep

Hello from Washington. I am headed up Friday for spring brown bear hunt. Looking for any final notes or updates I should take into account for a fly-in hunt in GMU 16. Weather looks amazing and information seems to suggest bears are on the move. One item I am staring at are my snowshoes. They take up a ton of room in pack for flight up. Does anyone have any advise on needing them. I have been looking at aviation cams and they seem to show favorable conditions low, but in the mountains, they still look like they are needed.

Not sure where exactly you are headed but I was out in 16 on Sat and there is A LOT of snow all over the place. Some of the south facing mountains are becoming spotty. Bears are starting to come out from what I heard from a lodge caretaker. I would take them. Strap them on your bag and hope for the best

Take them and hope you don't need them.

        Bring them!

If you leave them home and find out you need them, you are totally screwed.

            1. What's your guide say?
            2. You won't get very far without snowshoes over there right now.
            3. Things: Whites, Chapstick, sunglasses, SPF 50, gaitors. The snow is sopping wet by noon. You will be too probably. It's been HOT over there.

            Good luck
