    hey guys

i was lucky enought to draw the dm424 ft rich moose tag and was looking for any experience from any of you who may have drawn this tag in the past and had luck of lack there of. any inputs would be great.

I have not hunted this tag, but I've done a lot of driving around out that way and I've seen a lot of bulls just off the road. I think the lay of the land lends itself to methods that cover a lot of ground, and an easy way to do that is to follow the roads. Also, in my informal observation, the later in the season it gets, the more bulls around.
    Finally, Brad Childress is GONE!

        SLAM DUNK!

For the 10 to 20-percent who connect, that is...

        I'm 3 for 3. Biggest was 58".

Don't bother until after the 20th of September.

well im stationed at elmendorf and live on base so i plan on using that to my advantage and plan on hitting the woods hard as soon as i can and as much as i can this has been my dream tag since i got here 3 years ago so kahahawi i will hit you up as it gets closer to the season mayb we can both knock this out. and marc 3 fro 3 who sounds like you have them tied up to the trees out there huh?? that sounds like pretty good odds as long as i can put the amount of time in the woods that it takes

This aint the Arctic Circle! LOL
That bull (58) is the biggest base moose I've ever seen and I've had 4 base tags! Trust me, you won't do too much choosing. Just take what comes in and be happy with it. I hope you get your 60 incher, though!

Yep, pretty sure she stepped out of the truck, took 3 steps off the road, and *bang*.

I had that tag 2 years ago. I hunted about every day that I didn't have to work and didn't connect until the 6th of November. They were scarce, it was that way this year too for the early hunt. If we have a late fall again, they won't come out of the mountains until the cold/snow drives them down. There are always moose, but thin numbers. Like Marc said, don't be choosing, be shooting. Start scouting as soon as possible. I will gladly tell you the hot spots if you want. PM me and I'll spill all I learned. Maybe even take a drive.

Big bulls as a general rule are north of Eagle River during the rut. That's Muzzleloader-only territory, unfortunately. If I had that tag as a Muzzleloader hunter I know EXACTLY where I'd do my calling. Called one in for a buddy there back in '06 or '07. Very nice 50+.

Matter of fact, since we're on that subject, I've now called him in 2 Ft. Rich Bulls and what have I got in return? He took me to a sweet brown bear spot AND WOULDN'T LET ME SHOOT!!!!! LOL

I know he'll read this so I'll say - YOU OWE ME TTTWWWWOOOO! Not ONE! LOL

Here's what you have to look forward to:

This was my second FT. Rich bull. I think from '04.

Like I said, the nice ones are above Eagle River.
