A successful conclusion to another great season with my first Moose and first Alaskan animal with a bow. This was a great hunt; even with the extreme temperatures out this week.
The bull was shot broadside at 40-45 yards with a muzzy 125 3 blade out of my Matthews LX. He ran about 50 yards and I lost sight of him. I thought he ran into some really thick timber; but he was done. I hit back on his shoulder and got him through the heart and out the other side.
Being this was my first moose; I was the apprentice on the field job. It took about 2.5 hours to get him all done and back to the truck. We had some additional help from some buddies who were in the area. They helped drag the meat from the field on some sleds while the 3 of us got to cutting; the help was definitely appreciated. This would have been a very big task without all the help.
Enjoy the hunt
