I'll be making the trip down tomorrow, and hopefully a few 'practice' days on the water before Saturday. Gotta shake the rust off!

I remember seeing you out there, Will. I thought you were the guy that is in the slip next to me because he has a white and maroon Seasport, but when I got back in his boat had ice all around it so I knew he hadn't been out there.

I'm in a green Hewescraft with "Pretty Penny" in big letters on the bow. I'm not sure where I'm going to be on Sat., but I'll be out there. And I can assure you I'll be out there for the next 3 days "practicing" so if you're out there, too, and see me give me a shout.

And, BTW, very nice catch---the crabs and the king. That looks like it has to be in the upper teens or close to 20 lbs.

Not being unfriendly, just a warning I'm new at this saltwater boating thing. Its been nice the past few times out with no-one in the harbor to run into or make fun of my learning curve. Haven't actually run into anyone or thing yet and its getting easier with the ice thinning out. I rowed my various drift boats for years now, but the whole power thing is a little different. That said, I did christen the boat this weekend. Went out late on Saturday and got a limit of crab for those aboard, then I spent the night on the boat in the harbor and went back out sunday morning to "practice"--and pick up a few more crab. Success at both. Picked up a nice king in short order, but was the only fish of the morning.

I'll be in a white and marroon SeaSport with no name or logo on the boat. Please feel free to say howdy if you dare getting close enough.

Thanks Muttley. I do recall seeing the Pretty Penny. We do not have the logo's or name "Vienna Marie" on the boat yet, so will be running in stealth mode for a bit yet. Wish I would be back out practicing, but too busy this week. May make it back down this week, but not likely going to be able to fish until Saturday.

All this practicing is just increasing the odds that you fellas are going to be skunked due to fewer fish swimming in the bay. I'm not personally concerned, though...I've already got my 30 pounder tied up and ready to go. I figure if we've got him aboard by 9:15 that we can motor in, get him weighed, then have a nice leisurely afternoon of filling out our limits with 15 pounders for the grill.

doesn't matter if all the 25-30 lb fish get caught before the derby... it's the biggest fish on saturday, nothing else counts.
as a matter of fact, i am gonna try and weed out a few tomorrow

Ruth and I are heading out there this morning. She still needs to catch her first king on Skookum!

                        Ruth's first Skookum king

My hard-working wife Ruth had the day off today and finally boated her first winter king on the boat she owns 50% of. A 15lb. white king. I was very happy for her. She is not going to be able to fish the tournament with us on Sat. so this was her consolation prize.

Thanks Mark. Water was great, maybe a little 1-2 foot roll, but it flattened out after noon and now it's sunny and calm...

Nice off the bluff, we hooked two but lost one at the boat. Both about #20.

Great shot! Always rooting for the better half...can't wait to see my wife with a smile like that holding a great fish. Hopefully we will sell this home here in Idaho soon as our buyers pulled out two weeks ago. Our household goods (16,620 pounds) arrived Anchorage by sea today [survived the tsunami] ~ they will go into storage....extremely anxious.
