He's not a member but I talked to him. Weather wasn't great, but he ended up with 3, with a few cod and bass that they threw back. Which boat were you in?

i was on the julia lynn with pete.
we ended up with two, one white around #15 and about a #5 "regular" king , a couple p-cod, one big black rockfish, one little dusky and a greenling.
then we picked the pot and got our crab on the way home.

"Sea Ya" ended up with a 12,15 & a 17. Which is a good day, but the 12# was a strange one. It was white on the outer layer and red on the inside. I caught one once that was a mixture of white and red . But Freddie said this one was red on the inside and white on the outside. Some of these are strange.

When I worked at the local salmon bake in high school and thru college, we filleted a lot of salmon. I remember seeing one that had striations of alternating red and white muscles in a lengthwise direction. Very cool.

Variegated kings are the best. I get on average 1 a year. Taste is simply amazing.

How has the ice been for getting out of the harbor? I'm afraid of leaving green on the ice burgs.

i know one guy got out today, it was tough getting out, but not bad getting in. he got 2 in he mid-teens. there are cod boats coming in regularly around 4:30 or so, you can always wait for them.
with these warmer temps the ice should quit building, but we need some good tides and wind to blow it out of the harbor mouth, that's for sure.

Monday the Harbormaster said the entrance to the harbor has opened up and the fairway from the launch ramp to the fuel dock is clear. I'm putting my boat back in the water tomorrow and going fishing!

Put Skookum back in the harbor today. Launch ramps are open but the fairway was choked with large chunks of ice. Still, I was easily able to maneuver around all the big stuff and get into my slip. I did not go past J Float tho, but my friend Dave Seaman who does the mail runs on Tues/Fri said there was no ice in the harbor mouth.

                        Fishing tomorrow, will report back.

Trolled for 4 hours yesterday but we went 0 for 3 for the day. No bumps at all, all day. I understand other boats did have some success....Homer Dave?
