  • Downriggers for Halibut

Has anyone ever used their electric downriggers to pull up halibut? If so, I am morbidly curious about the results.

Where'd the dude go that wanted to catch halibut out of a float tube, he needs to get in on this!

Use a pot puller. Much more power. You could mount several on your boat.

        No thanks.

Supposedly it works well in those heavy tidal flows, but if I can't keep it on the bottom with a 2# lead, then it's too much for me. Getting that downrigger lead stuck would be a little spooky too.

maybe you could use a potpuller. or save the hassle altogether and just buy it at the store

it will make pulling up bait and chickens easy.
