Can you imagine what kind of desparation would cause a person to giveaway a full day charter for less than cost? If it were me I would make sure I didn't burn any fuel on those trips and that I'd get in very early in the afternoon.....Just sayin.....

For $99 as long the boat doesn't sink it would be a good trip.

            Kenai Drift

Drifters Lodge is offering $25.00/person raft trips from Kenai Lake to Sportsmans --- this is drift only, no fishing---- great idea for those visiting relatives who will be living in my family room from June to August.

Also, they offer $150.00/person all day fishing trips beginning June 11, when the Kenai reopens.

There are $100 halibut charters out of Seward.

Seaman's Adventures has a nice all day charter for a booked six pack including lunch. Glenn Seaman, is a biologist operating with what looks like a nice boat. I booked us a full day for our visiting family of five, tax and all inclusive $668.00 in Homer. Nothing like having your own personal marine biologist to give you a tour of tide pools on the best tides of the year, wild life sanctuaries and the nooks and crannies of Kachemak Bay.

i find it hard to believe that some the deep creek charter guys cant make any money charging 99.00 a head. not sure what the tractor launch costs but im pretty sure they arent burning that much fuel. something i am missing?

You're not missing anything... If you book a 6 pack boat at $99 a head, you're taking in $600.00 for the boat. Subtract $50 for the launch, another $100 for gas, and a few bucks for bait, and you're still making decent profit. The theory is that when clients are tough to come by, they'd rather fish for a few hundred bucks than not fish and make zero. It makes total sense when bookings are down as much as 40% for some. I don't blame them one bit, and I don't think it necessarily signifies anything bad about the charter or guide.

fishing isn't about life or death... it's more important than that.

                      10'6" Shimano Cennan $99.00

I know the show's over, but Mountain View had 47 of these left when I checked last night. They might still have some at the store. Great Kenai diver rod. . . Doc and I tested them on the Kenai last July and they performed very well.

                        Fuel at 3 .00 - 300.00

                        Truck Payment?
                        Paid Captain?

The list goes on and one. They might be okay to book a couple of seats at that rate but 600 bucks for a charter is not profitable at all in Seward and I cant imigine is it very profitable in Deep creek unless they burn no fuel.

yep $600 doesn't get you very far from the launch
