  • How lucky we are in South Central Alaska!!

Look at the big halibut season they have in Washington State....We got it so good up here!!

Below are the 2009 regs that will be posted possibly next week and was decided at the last meeting. I just verified it with Heather Reed that these are the seasons.

The North Coast will be Thursday and Saturday only-no Tuesdays. No second season too. The opener (deep water or offshore) will be May 14, 16, 21, and 23. The following week closed for count. If there is enough quota left it will reopen June 4 & 6. June 7-13 closed for recount. If enough is left is will be June 18, 20, 25, and 27 nearshore to clean it up.

The South Coast (Westport) will not be monthly now and will be the same as the North Coast as days only. They are looking at off shore May 3, 5, 10, 12, 17, and 24. With the same week off for recount. This could be different on the South Coast. If there is quota left it might rreopen on possibly the 26 and 31. There were near shore dates mixed in there but you should wait for the official announcement as we were really rehashing the South Coast. It has increased in popularity by a large margin.

In Oregon it was eight days per year when I was there.
Hike faster. I hear banjo music.
