  • Ice fishing biglake

My wife and I went fishing this weekend on biglake. Wound up with a 22 inch char and a 25 inch burbot for about 4 hours of fishing. I caught the char my wife caught the burbot. Unfortunatly our camera was lost so we don't have any pictures.

How deep were you fishing? Sounds like you had a good time. I fished Long lake yesterday and got one burbot to nibble on my herring but I couldn't hook him.

      Big Lake

We went out on sunday, and ended up with a 21 inch char, which was our only action in about 2 1/2 hours. We were jigging in about 15-20 ft of water with silver and blue Krocidile Spoons.

Went out to Big Lake on Sunday, and only managed a couple 25" char. Fishing was fair in the morning, but shut-off by afternoon. Spotted numerous fish resting lethargically along the bottom, so I figured that was my que to go home and do the same. Fishing should pick-up towards the middle of the week with this next weather front.

Caught the char on a crocodile spoon and the burbot on a pink gummy jig.
          was fishing in about 40ft.

We got 2 rainbows (18" and 20") and nothing else. Unless you count the free burbot that the troopers confiscated from some people using illegal gear and gave to me.

I've done that a couple of times down at Ship Creek. It is priceless to see the look on the snaggers face when you give his 30# chromer king to a tourist . Finding a 'charity' can be difficult out in the field so ADF&G told me to give it to someone nearby who would appreciate it after I cite the bad guy.

I had talked to the Officer for a bit earlier and he knew I was new so I think that's why he hooked me up. So far I have been checked every time I go out to Big Lake and the two guys that have checked me have always been nice.
