I want to see a pic of the 10lb black rockfish. My buddy caught a monster once. He thought he had on a big king for awhile it pulled so hard on salmon gear!

When targeting the Black Rockfish and Yelloweye, are you looking at the same structure/depth? If not, what structure/depth are you targeting each on/in? I've had the best luck for >10 lb YEs on rocky ledges in 400-650' on chicken rigs as jigging can be hard for new anglers. I'm determined to break the 20 lb mark by the end of the summer!

Yelloweyes - 10 - 12 oz diamond jig, tipped with herring, squid, or octo on a rock pile between 100'-200'. My 13 y/o son has caught one each year over 25 lbs on that set up. Many more released with the deep water release I have. When they are that big it takes a lot of weight to get them back down.
Blackies - smaller jigs, 2 oz lead head with glow tail on light line, 10 - 15 lb test.TIGHT LINES...ALASKA!!
