Anyone fishing the valley lakes yet? Little campbell in Anchorage is 4" thick now so I'm thinking some valley lakes might be ready? Caught this 'bow through the ice in only 1 ft of water last year near the outlet of a valley lake. A personal best through the ice. Getting excited for some hardwater fishing this year.

Awesome! When I get off the slope Tuesday ill be getting the gear ready and checking some smaller lakes.
Hopefully we get a good base before the snow flies too heavily.
The overflow last year just sucked!"The closer I get to nature the farther I am from idiots"

Probably doesn't matter if you're fishing deep, but for shallow fishing seems like it would be tough.
In the past we've even fished bobbers but stood back 20 ft.
But if you cover up, with only a few inches of ice, it's amazing how much you can see. Great learning experience and just plain fun. But be careful!!!
