Surprised they haven't yet. They screwed up and opened the Deshka before hitting the bottom escapment goal, why not the little Sue after reaching the lower escapment goal. This makes no sense. I think it should remain closed myself but management should be equal across the board.

In all likely hood they wont open it up. There is not enough data from the weir count to warrant that. Past escapement goals have been based on aerial surveys not weir counts. The decisions the biologists are making are based on those numbers.
Brad, its easy to snipe but you should really talk to the biologists to see what their rational is you would hear a very complicated set of circumstances. They are stuck in a very difficult position and trying to make everyone happy and preserve the population at the same time.

I'm not a cattle rancher either, but I know you can't kill all the bulls and cows for hamburger, and expect to be in business next year.

I'm going to let you guys in on a little secret.

I highly doubt any of the state fish biologists are going to read what I post and say, "you know, that anonymous goof-ball guy on the internet may be on to something".

It's the internet guys, everybody is entitled to voice their opinion, even me.

You are correct! Fish biologists across the country actually avoid these type of sites because of the crazy stuff that people post.

I know of one site that approached the Game and Fish fisheries biologists to see if they would be willing to answer questions posted on the site. A couple biologists in the state agreed and for a while were diligent about answering questions. But, after a few months of dealing with the crap and conspiracies, etc. they had enough and for the most part have quit participating. People posting on the site were actually arguing with the fish biologists and calling them liars about how many fish were stocked and what size they were at the time of stocking when the biologists were the ones that stocked the fish!! All because these people had gone to the water and could not catch a fish!!

I will say this site has a higher percentage of more informed anglers than the site I am talking about has.

The reasoning is listed in the latest fishing report. Little Su will not be opened back up, as of yet, because the goal is based on aerial surveys with a certain margin of error, and the weir is an exact count.
