Any reports, by fish counts and this year looking like 2012, there should be limits by now?

        ANGLER: Coondawg
        TRIP DATE: 5/31
REGION: Upper Susitna & Copper R
        WATER: Klutina River Drainage
        SPECIES: Copper River Reds
REPORT: We were itching to fish this weekend and didn't know where to go. On a whim, me, my son Zach, and his friend Tuk, took off to Glenallen to try the Klutina River. Man we hit it right. In three hours, I limited out, Zach had two and lost the same. His buddy, a first time fisherman, had three hits and a possible. It was fun! Nice Saturday with my son and his friend. Will do the same next weekend.

[AOJ: I can ASSURE you next weekend the guys in your group won't go home fishless! ]

**** skippy I'm ready! I've got a new 9-weight ready at the house, ditto for backing and line. Problem is the reel is dragging ass getting here but hopefully will arrive this week. Not a show stopper, though, as I've still got the old reliables. And, as I write this, I'm currently smoking off my final batch of reds from last year, opening up the freezer for a fresh load! RV reservations made on the kenai for July, too.

Great trip! Not long enough though. First time I have ever caught a limit of Reds in May. :w00t:

Stupid fishing, limits are being caught right at the campgrounds. Fish are bright and good size, water level is low (easy access along both banks).

Saw lots of wildlife along the Rich - many moose and even a wolf. Almost perfect, other than the gusting wind.

For those that went to the Klutina from Fairbanks, were any of the lakes near Paxson ice free?

Summit still has cover - degrading ice and 10 foot of shore open. Paxson - looked to be open from what can be seen from the hwy

Time to stock up on circle hooks for flossin' reds.

Well four hours of fishing and one fish. I did see 3 others caught. Much better than hanging around anchorage for the day?

Did anyone lose the top section of a fly rod in the klutina? if so, we caught it today. It looked new, not beat up at all.

Agree with Andy82, fishing was slow. Did pick up and produce a few limits around 8pm though. Should be like a light switch any moment and turn on !!!
