For those that have never been exposed, Sexyloops.com is perhaps the greatest source of casting information and inspiration out there...My man Matt Klara just recently started writing for them, holding down the "wednesday article" duties.

Check it out. A wealth (WEALTH) of information about all types of casting, geared for everyone from the rank beginner to the seasoned vet. Make sure you check out the video section - some awesome footage.

Drunk, sure, but it is my B'day. Can't find a blonde chic casting video. Mark, recommend a 7 wt switch rod. I am always game to learn something new.

Happy birthday, man.

I like the Winston BII-x 11' 7wt, for a few reasons. It is a great rod for both skagit and scandi lines and spey family casts, it two-hand overheads shooting heads great, and you can cast it all day as a singlehander without your arm falling off.

Another good one is the Sage Z-axis. All the above reasons, plus a little added beef and a wider grain window for spey family lines.

Redington makes a good 7wt switch in the CPX series, and it won't break the bank. It is a little heavier, but the action is good for both one and two hands.

Echo and Beulah both make good switch twigs in the 7wt class, but the actions are much more "spey-like" - softer, with a deeper flex. If a fella was just throwing spey family lines with his switchrod, these are great rods, and at an affordable price-point as well.

Remarks by your buddy, Matt strike home for me. Like other endeavors, "perfection" is more an internal ideal - easily met even on days of small or few fish. Not too small though - heh.

I personally own the Sage Z-axis switch 7 and the Redington CPX switch 6 wts, and have fished with the Winston BII-x before... and would vouch for either of them.

On a side note... does anyone know if there's any Spey Cast clinics being offered this winter/spring in the Anchorage area??
