  • Source for Custom-Tied Flies

I'm looking for someone to custom-tie some large (2/0) scud flies for me. Any suggestions?

    Thanks

Do you have any photos? Good photos and a material list if you have them and I am sure someone here can knock some out for you.

Here is what I'm looking for. (I used to tie them myself but my vision has deteriorated so it's a real struggle for me to tie them.)

Hook: Gamakatsu SC15 Saltwater Fly Hook - size 2/0 (The shank of this hook is straight rather than curved, but it is heavy duty and has a straight eye.)

Weighted with lead wire wrapped around the shank

Tail: small bunch of barbs from a ringneck pheasant tail feather (or similar)

Body: mixture of tan and olive mohair yarn covered on top with clear or tan scudback and wrapped with copper or olive wire for ribbing. The mohair is brushed down to form the "legs".

The flies that I'm looking for don't have to be tied exactly like this. The above information is just to provide a general guide.

      Thanks.

sparked my curiosity, what are you using a 2/0 scud for? Big lakers?

            Salmon is my guess
I choose to fly fish, not because its easy, but because its hard.

Rod, did you check your Personal Messages. I submitted a reply saying I had some of the materials and would have to order others.

Time is burning on your end, and mine.

                Thanks

I just sent you a PM. Sorry about the delay. I'm not quite used to this PM business yet.
