The University of Alaska Anchorage is offering a beginner fly fishing course this summer term, beginning the first week of June. There are two nights of lecture, three lab days where you learn to cast in their gym and pool, and then two full days of fishing locally putting it all together. The instructor is a certified casting instructor with the Federation of Fly Fishers. They supply rods/reels/lines/flies and you bring waders and the clothes you wear. It is open to all, not just UAA students.
This is a great deal for the money, whatever they're charging. Other classes are on lawns and last one half a day, or two halves over a week-end.
A good number to call is Cathy at 786-4085.
