My wife is a little over 5' and good at flipping for Kenai reds. I want to get her fishing for reds with a a fly rod. I was thinking a 9 weight, but looking for ideas on fly rod, length and reel. We live in Kenai and Sportsmans, Wilderness Way and Trustworthy are the main stores for that stuff.
What fly rod?

Any of them 8 / 9 or 10W will work no need to spend large amounts of Cash if she is just flipping for Reds.

Or when your in Anch go to Cabela's and getter done. As Much as I am not a fan of their products concerning fly gear they actually offer a reasonable package deal.
If you are looking to upgrade Orvis Access: http://www.orvis.com/access-saltwater-fly-rods they have package deals as well but your looking at a significant purchase over $500.00 however they stand behind their products.
In reality the Okuma is a decent entry level outfit just a little heavy.

You don't need to spend big money on a red rod, Trustworthy has Okuma rods right now for like $50 or so that would work fine. I prefer the better feel of the $100 range lamiglass rods they sell.
Definitely agree on a 9wt, if she doesn't like the 9' length, cut it down and put a new end eye on it.
