Seriously, they will be of liitle value going up stream........., maybe use full if you do a bunch of drifting, most guys carry a paddle or two, handy to get a disabled boat to shore, pretty darn hard to row a riverboat, is this a open boat? or does it have a windshield? A lot of older Jon style boats had oarlocks.....but ...Woolys are heavy in comparison."FREEDOM" Only those that are denied truly know what it means.

I put a set of oars on my 18/52 alweld and I can mauever the boat fairly well when I drift, doest turn on a dime but its manueverable. and I know I could row and control the boat in case of power failure or other emergency situation, but my boat is a lighter flatbottom.

I had a 16 foot roll up inflatable with a 60/40 jet, I installed proper rowing towers and got some 8 foot oars...boat weight was 650lbs plus 2 guys and in all but the slowest water the oars were pretty useless...there was no way to back row and direct yourself out of the outside bend of the river, I had to fire up the jet to keep from hitting the bank and maneuver around sweepers.
