  • Is it time to put my boat away?

My family of 5 (3 kids wife and me) have had one of our best summers ever. Floating rivers has apparently become our thing. While the heat and sunshine was nice, the low water was not. We had some russian river campground reservations canceled due to fires. I suck at fishing the Kenai. Doesn't mean I don't enjoy floating it.
Should I cover my boat and forget about taking the family out, or are there opportunities I am unaware of?

    Drift boat?
The fire closures are starting to end. I think only the canyon below Jim's is closed. [double check]
Slow coho start this year, but, like you said, can't beat being on the water.

I've floated in October a couple of times. Keep in mind that rivers are slower, days are shorter and it's colder. We had a miserable finish close to dark on little willow one year.

The middle matanuska will be doable for quite a while.

I know I'm not putting my boat away as I'm hoping silvers will pick up here soon.
Sheep hunting...... the pain goes away, but the stupidity remains...!!!

I just cleaned up my raft yesterday. It's drying out in the garage and I'll probably get it rolled up tonight. I probably could have snuck in another float or two, but soon enough will be ice fishing.
