I was reading a threat on Brutus pot pullers in the fishing forum about them loosing traction when I reminded me of my Lame Windlass. I have the basic traditional Windlass that Deweys puts on their boats. Wish like heck I would have paid a few bucks more and upgraded. My windlass has the rubber thingamajiggy (rubber barrel) that you wrap the line around and step on the foot switch to activate. Unfortunatly, you have to keep alot of tension on the line to pull the anchor. Its basically just helping you pull the anchor. I've tried one/two and three wraps and it still slips. Does anyone else have this problem and can anyone provide a suggestion other than buy a better one, pull by hand and quit whining, or use my bouy system like I use to in my old boat?

What size line/rode are you using, should be at least 1/2 inch. Also, why not use 3,4 or even 5 wraps of line around the uh, ah, um...dangit, now i can re what it's called, davit?? The thinner the line, the more wraps you have to use. You should only have to maintain moderate tension on the line, not have to exert any effort...
