It is just the color really. UHMW in any form is tough material. The blue has a silicone additive in it though that makes it extra slick.

Can you tell me if the airboats with Polymer or like bottoms can hold up to running shallow rivers where you will hit submerged rocks, or slide across a gravel bar?

                      Blue Iron

I have talked with "Superslide" about their Blue Iron. It seems to have been developed somewhat in mind as truck bed liners for end dumps, side dumps, etc. It is a bit harder than virgin UHMW as it has some recycled product in it. The recycled material is not a bad thing. Being harder, it makes their product a bit more wear resistant. The Blue Iron does have UV inhibitors which even on the bottom of an airboat is a must. UV degradation on non UV UHMW would shorten the life span to about 4 or 6 years depending on the application.
That company also has a fusion welder and can make custom sized sheets as needed. That looks like a really cool system they have.
I am not selling their product. But as a hobbiest, I have done a lot of research on UHMW. If you go over to the snow mobile forum you can look up several threads that show sleds that we have built too.
I am not an airboat driver, but if I were, there is no way I'd ever have an airboat without a UHMW bottom.

Can you get a sheet 3/8x5'2''x23'long? I have a wood river boat. With a sheet that size it would take less screws through the wood to hold it on. So less effect from expansion & contraction. How much $ Can. ?
