  • Hewes craft cabin door handle

I have a 2006 Alaskan. Looking for advise. My cabin door handle now won't open. The key will turn but door handle won't move.
Called Dewey's and hewes headquarters. They don't carry the door handle anymore. Has anyone replaced this before? If so where what brand a model. Thanks

Does yours have the long skinny handle or the clam shell type?

Hewes should be about to tell you how to get a replacement. I've called them and spoken to Carrie sever times and she was always able to give me the original vendor info for the parts that I needed.

Long handle. I'll call Carrie again.

You might try calling Rocky's Marine in Petersburg (772-3949). The door handle on our 260 Alaskan broke about a year after we got it and Rocky's had replacements in stock.

When mine broke I was able to jimmy it open using the tip of a knife the move the slide back. Once the door is open you can take it apart. On mine the slide looks like cast aluminum if I was you I'd take the broken parts to a machine shop and have a new slide made out of stainless.

I can take screws out but the handle is frozen and won't come off. Ugh
