2006 merc 25 efi 4 stroke jet aprox 150 hrs
bought this motor this spring. Ran great first few times out. Next trip I was cruising and it died on me. Started it back up and it ran fine for 10+ miles. Took it on several trips after that ranging from 10-20 miles, ran great. Next trip was a talkeetna run and it ran fine for about 5 miles, then it started 'missing' at wot. If I backed off to half it would cruise decent, or if I came to an idle, I would be able to go wot for about 15 secs then it would do it again. I also notice after I pulled the hood of that the filter canister was only half full. I limped back home. I changed the spark plugs and put a lil water/fuel step on. I also took the fuel pump off and didn't notice anything with my eyes. Took it to lake and put a bottle of sea foam in with new gas and ran it wot for 30 min, ran great. Problem fixed! Went to rally today and it ran good for about 20 min and started doing it again. Same thing I I backed to half it would cruise. But it's not all there when I'm full throttle. It revs fine in nuetral, and when I do go to nuetral it will run for about 15 secs. It never completely dies on me but something isn't right.
Im assuming it's the fuel pump, just acts like it isn't getting ennough fuel. The fuel line/primer gets tight when I disconnect from motor, with no leaks. I'm relying on this for my annual Yukon hunt. Before i go buy a pump and continue troubleshooting, does anybody else have any tricks to try? I'm almost positive it is something that is an 'easy' fix. Thanks for your
time
