  • Trailer tire help needed

Backing the trailer into the driveway Sunday night and I hear a scream from the girlfriend. Looked back and the front tire of my dual axle trailer had a grotesque tilt to it. The top of the tire was tilted inwards as I was turning. Straightened the trailer out and it looked fine. Going to jack up the trailer tonight to check the bearings. What else would cause this? Tire pressure is good. Bent rim? No noticeable noise coming from the area when we were towing.

My King Saltwater trailer has torsion axles and the tires will lean in when making tight turns.

Tight turning radius. Trailer tires are crowned to help prevent this from happening which is why you should not run regular auto tires (flat profile on top) on a trailer. Not saying you are, but they could be on your trailer. A crowned tire turns easier in a tighter radius as there is less tire on the ground.
Other than that, check your bearings to make sure there is no slop.

Thanks for the quick responses. They are trailer tires, and it definitely is a tight radius. Going to pop it off tonight to check bearings just in case.

Tires will flex when making tight turns. If the rim tilts, thats a problem!

My torsion axles will tilt and it looks like the something is broke on the trailer. i jacked it up and my bearings are tight and wheel is rock solid. the front tire will tilt outward and the back will tilt inword or vise a verse if depending on which side of the trailer you look at. i figured it was a way of releasing pressure as you drag the trailer around a real tight turn like in a parking lot. Always check the bearings.....
