Open Water for Tomporrow-(Saturday) the 21st

I checked at Sportsmans here in Anchorage today and they had on the board that Big Lake still has ice. Other than Finger Lake, is there any other fresh water lakes we could put the Wooly hotrod and thrash up some fish??

I would check with South Port Marina or Burkeshore Marina to be 100% positive, bit I'm pretty sure the ice has been gone for a week or better now.

The only possible laker lake that would be open would be on the KP. Long Lake mile 86 may or may not be open. No reports yet.

Downriggers and Big Lake would not be a great combo. Lake has a pretty big gradient change sometimes in very short distances. Like it has been said, no lakers in Big Lake and this time of year the lakes that have them, the fish tend to be rather shallow....the burbot, too.

ok, found out today about the odd bottom on Big Lake. I plowed up a bunch of it if anyone needs some good weeds for your kids' aquariums!
All went well though, I got the Sport up to 45 and seemed to be just shy of max at that point.
