the sun is a love hate relationship. Use to love it, till I got malignant melanoma. I like it, but its no longer my friend.

Rain..... yes at times. But this year it has been kind of light for our standards. Most creeks right now are very low. The warmth on the glaciers causes more stream rise than the rains.

While I won't argue about Valdez rain with somebody that lives there, but what I sure remember about this past fall was the RAIN. Man it Rained, and Rained and Rained while I was fishing there this past fall. The LOWE was up so high that there was a ton of Debris in the Arm. Still a great place to be though, beats workin!

Fish On!

Default US Weather Service

The Weather Service in Valdez uses a different scale than most other places in Alaska. For here:
1/4" of rain or less = Sunny
1/4" - 1/2" = Partly Cloudy
1/2" - 1" = Overcast
1" or more = Showers or Rain (Determining factor is if it is blowing sideways or not)

Yeah Kodiak rains and blows and you almost never see the sun. It seems like in the stream fishing it's almost all lining which surprised me, most fish don't bite, you have to line them by sight except in a few streams because they are low and clear (that's what I saw anyway). You are stuck on an island unless you take a ferry to Homer which is 4 hours from Anchorage. I think there is great salt water fishing there though, and crabbing is good. Anyway lots to do for the outdoorsman, it seems like everyone there is an outdoorsman. I hope your wife likes it. good luck.
