    I suspect it depends whether it's a pull or electric start.

    It's a part of the flywheel, not a separate unit like in a car.

    You can check here for diagrams under "Generator" (after selecting your model).

    ? I had a Pull start and a electric start and both had a alternator, was great for keeping battery up for the GPS & Fish Finder on my pull start motor.
    My guess is yup
