    Smile 375 H&h

Purchased a SS Ruger #1 last night at a very good price with only 10 rounds put through it. Would like to work up some thumper rounds for bear.

Could I could get some recommendations please!

    Thanks

    Default .375 H&h

I have never loaded for a #1, but RL-15 w/ any 260-270 grain bullets, and H4350 for the 300 grainers works good in the bolt guns I have loaded for. WW760 also works well for the 300's but not as good as H4350 in my expierence. The 260 Nosler Part. and 300 Hornady RN has shot good in every .375 I have tried.

My favorite load for my #1 is 72 grains of IMR_4064 under Hornady 270 grain spires. Smacked lots of big stuff with it, but no bear. It's accurate as can be, but mostly I shoot it because I got 2000 of the bullets at $10/100 and four 8-pound cans of the powder at less than half price from a store going out of business a few years ago. I'm down to less than 100 of the bullets, so my favorite load is about to change.

    Default 350 grain Woodleighs

I emailed Geoff McDonald of Woodleigh Bullets in January about the same question. Here is what he emailed: "For both SN and PP 350gr bullets use Federal 215 primer, 68-72 grains of Hodgdon H4350 for 2300-2380 fps or 73 grains H4831SC or IMR 4831 for 2250 fps. For FMJ reduce SN load by 5% and work up."

Try some big thumpers. I hope this helps. BTW: You can also buy them at www.Doubletap.com
