    Default shrimp question

So one gallon of shrimp tails = how many gallons of whole shrimp? Multiply by 1.5 or 2 or 2.5?? Thanks.

I would have to say that your 2 to 2.5 is pretty close...the heads are large. What did you put on your permit before you concealed them bugs....I try to document as close as I can get to the 1/4 gallon up to 2 or so gallon whole - then 1/2 gal after that - if the 5 gal bucket is mostly full (within an inch or two from the top) I put 5 gallons.

If memory serves correctly, a 5 gallon bucket yields about 2 gallon baggies stuffed full of tails.

That is about what I come up with. I will add that a gallon sized ziplock stuffed with tails will weigh in right at 6lbs of pure heaven. It was good to meet you at the launch tlingitwarrior.

Thanks guys. Good to put a face to the name as well. We had a great trip. About 15 gallons of whole shrimp I figure. No fish, but never really tried too hard. Same with the black bear hunting. If one would have jumped out I would have done the deed. Did take 6 sea otters!

Can't wait to get out again.

So far my shrimp catches for the year total 3/4 of a gallon...but getting better each time.

Jim I think he is talking about killing the otters for fur or what ever. AK natives can do that.

Native Alaskans are permitted to harvest sea otters. They have the most dense fur out there.
