    Default My first Black Bear

100_2107.jpgThis is my first Black Bear. Shot him 230 yds with Browning X-bolt 300wsm. Taxi squared him at 5ft and said he was about 5yrs old.

    Congrats on your first bear.

Spring blackies are my families favorite meat.

Was this a boat based, walk-in, or wheeler hunt?

Thank you for the coments. It was a wheeler with alot of walking hunt. I was a 180 grain bullet. It took us almost 2hrs to stalk and the wind none existing. When we were all finished skinning and bagging meat we walked maybe 300yds and I turned around and told my buddie its your turn, had another about 100yds from our gut pile and moving in. We dropped it all and went back closer to the pile, we could see him through the alders getting closer and then it started hailing and wind going crazy and we lost him. I am definatly hooked.

Congrats buddy. I remember my first black bear; it's an awesome feeling. Beautiful coat on your bear. I agree with Sollybug, the breakfast sausage is amazing! Hey ak rhubarg, when were you out in PWS? I was out there in my boat the 16th-19th. Saw a couple as well but realize it was a little early.
