We hijacked a recent thread with some differing oponions, one of which I'd like to respond to here... The idea that drinking is a necessity for fishing, or even a large part of it, is a little offensive to my fragile fly fishing purist sensibilities.
When I bowl, I always say that I can only do it well when I am half drunk. I say this half jokingly just like a few folks mentioned that your fly casting will improve with every beer... I understand it's said light heartedly but I wanted to hear what people have to say about it. Just for funsies, if you will
My take, is I think most serious fly fisherman don't treat fishing like it is a beer league hockey team or a day out on the golf course with rented clubs... You don't see Arnold Palmer dragging a case of Bud Light around the course, and you won't see me drinking while I fish.
