Default fishing between Anchorage and Fairbanks

I will be driving from Anchorage to Fairbanks at the end of July and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on fishing or must see stops along the way? We have been to Denali by train but have never driven it. How bad is the traffic at that time of the year? Last year when we drove South from anchorage I got some good tips on what to see along the way. Thanks,

You will have several rivers driving the Parks, and or the Richardson Hgwy.

Willow, Little Willow, Sheep Creek, Troublesome, Byers, Chulitna, Jack, and Chena Rivers if taking the Parks into Fairbanks. All systems have fishing Chums, Pinks, Silvers, and Rainbows now and again. If the weather is nice stop at Byers and rent a Kayak great views of Denali on a clear day. The Jack and Chena have Grayling ranging from 6-18 inches fly and or spin fishing. The Chena has a late King run as well peaking around the week of the 18th of July.

Tonsina, Klutina, and Gulkana on the Richardson Hwgy with Sockeye and King Salmon if you make it before the close of King season on the rivers. The East Fork of the Gulkana can be good Grayling fishing in late July.

    Enjoy your trip.
