    Default Best Camp Meals

What are some of the best meals ( breakfast, lunch, or dinner) that you've had while only using campfire or small camp stove. Did you prep most before or make all at camp?

generally meat of an animal you have harvested takes the cake on camp meals. One that stand out to me is a silver salmon caught on light weight trout gear while moose hunting. It was cooked with simple Mrs Dash on a green alder grill over a pit fire. Lesson learned a Cut-Co double D hunting knife is a poor choice for filleting salmon! Now I keep a "boat knife" in the woldridge cause you never know when it will be needed! Butterfly grouse breast is another great camp dish as is good ole Hilshire farms cheddar brats cooked on a stick over an alder fire.

My best so far was a thick backstrap steak from a freshly killed moose that I shot. Single burner coleman stove, small pan barely bigger than the steak. Of course this was after a day and a half of hauling the meat back to camp through tag alder jungle. Me and my buddy pigged out on that moose for a couple days. Memorable meals.

You can cook about anything in the bush, just takes some planning. I often make meals ahead and freeze them and vacuum seal them for later.

    Steak and Shrimp

    Biscuits.

    Great company!!!

Steaks and Black Bear Back Straps!!!

    Few more.

I know the Waiter, so he gave us this great table with a view!!

    Even on the Yukon.

Breakfast on the run up the Yukon to Moose camp.

Sheep camp when all I had was meat and a stick, well some spices of course.

Will have some more here after bear camp.
