Annual Fish and Game Spring Community Fun Shoot

Don’t miss out on this once per year fun shooting event! Prizes awarded for each of the seven events! The 12th Annual Community Spring Fun Shoot at the Alaska Department of Fish and Game Hunter Education Indoor Shooting Range in Fairbanks is scheduled for Saturday, May 14, starting at 1 p.m.

The event features six fun live-fire range shoots for shooters of all skill levels and the electronic shooting range will also be open and feature the “Duck Hunt Challenge” event. Prizes are awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place shooters for each event. First place winners for each event will receive $20 in Frontier Outfitters/Sentry Hardware gift cards along with three free hours of range time! Second place winners for the live-fire range events will receive a $10 gift card for Frontier Outfitters/Sentry Hardware along with two free hours of range time. Third place winners receive one hour of free range time. We will have a special random drawing for a free pair of Cabela’s electronic ear muffs! Each event entry earns a chance to win!

Sign up for Spring Shoot events is now open at the range during walk-in public shooting hours! Entry fee is only $8 per event. Sign up and pay to confirm a spot in one or more events! 10 shooter spots open per event. Shooters need to provide their own safe firearm(s), ammo and eye and ear protection. (We do have some ammo, and eye and ear protection available for sale at the range.) This event is supported by AIM-COMM, the Alaska Interior Marksmanship Committee ( Please note there will be no regular walk-in public shooting hours on Saturday, May 14. Schedule of Events:

1:00 p.m. - Doors open

1:00-4:00 p.m. - E-Range (electronic shooting): Duck Hunt Challenge Shoot: E-Range trainer gun(s) provided.

1:15 p.m. - Youth Balloon Shoot: ages 8 to 16, .22 rifle, benchrest position, balloon targets with Shoot-n-See, 10 shots, 50-ft, $8 entry.

2:00 p.m. - Team Shoot (Youth/Adult): ages 8-16/17 up, .22 rifle, benchrest/standing, animal silhouettes, 5 shots x2, 50-ft, $8 entry per pair.

2:45 p.m. - Card Shoot: ages 10 and older, .22 Pistol/Rifle or CF Pistol (.32-.45, no magnum ammo), standing, playing card target, up to 50 shots, 15' min distance, $8 entry.

3:30 p.m. - Reverse Shoot-n-See: ages 10 and older, .22 Pistol/Rifle or CF Pistol (.32-.45, no magnum ammo), standing, Blank target, 10 shots, 50-ft, $8 entry.

4:15 p.m. - Game Animal Target Shoot: ages 10 and older, .22 rifle, standing, game animal target, 10 shots, 50-ft, $8 entry.

5:00 p.m. - Last Shooter Standing Shoot, ages 10 and older, .22 or CF Pistol (.32-.45 - no magnum ammo), strong hand only, B33 or B39, 30 secs/shot, up to 25 shots, 50-ft, $8 entry.
