    Press Release
    May 3, 2011
    Contact: Anita Shell
    APD Public Information Officer
    786-8664 Office
    Subject: Missing Person
Case Number: APD case number 11-19829[/B]

Police are asking the public for assistance in locating missing person John Martin, III who was last seen in the Anchorage area on April 25, 2011 at about 8:30 a.m.

Martin had told a friend that he planned on walking barefoot to Iliamna from Anchorage along with his 6 month old dog. Martin had no provisions for himself or the dog and told the friend he intended on living off the land. It is believed that Martin hitched a ride to the Valley and began his walk in the area of the Knik/GooseBay airport.

Martin is a white male, 39 years old, 62 tall, 225 pounds with shoulder-length brown hair, hazel eyes and a beard as pictured. He was also wearing the coat he was pictured in. The dog is a short-haired white dog with spots on her head, possibly a Dalmatian mix.

Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of John Martin, III is asked to call APD at 786-8900.

Thank you for any and all help.

To Iliamna? Along the Cook Inlet beach? BAREFOOT?

My best wishes go out to his friends and family. Along with my prayers that he is found and rescued before he meets with a poor end.

Wanted you all to know that he is back safely. He DID make it across the Little and Big Susitna and the Beluga??? (I think it's name is correct.)

There is more to read on the notice left on the ATV board.

He is alive and the dog is doing very well.

Thank you for your prayers and well wishes for John.

    Blessings,
    Linda
