    Default Kenai King

I heard a rumor of two kings being caught in the Kenai. Nothing confirmed, just vague rumor that usually starts this time of year. Has anyone heard anything or seen any pictures?

Yeah, I heard from a good source that two were caught last weekend on the Kenai.
Your bait stinks and your boat is ugly

Not saying it didn't happen, but when I checked last weekend there were very few places open to launch. The ones I did find, that are not private were mid-river. But hey if its true kuddos! We put one in the boat last year on the second DBM of May.

Heard a drift boat was out the other day, he had to drag it in a few places, river very low. I am not believing any rumor without pictures.

So I take it that this is going to remain as an "unsubstantiated report?"

I'll be out today fishing the in-coming tide on the lower river.Pillars and Stewards are open--Eagle Rock doesn't have enough water yet. They open June 1st.
Will post pics if successful---might posts pics if not (I can't beleive I said not)

I drifted the lower Kenai on Friday but did not fish. At the Crossover I heard a splash. Thought it might be a tern divebombing smolt but I didn't see one take off......So, my best guess is that king was pushing through. Sorry, no pics so the roll may or may not have happened

My fiancee was at the Kenatize subsistence net off of cannery loop on the 1st with the elders.
They didn't get a single fish.
An elder running the net on the 3rd
    got 2 kings.
No pics but I guess my fiancee got a small piece of fried king.
Could be the source of this king report.

Ps please don't turn this into a subsistence debate. It's just a fishing report.

There's no question in my mind that the kings are just starting to nose their way into the lower river at this time. And it won't be long before it will be a flood of them. While I don't fish the mightly Kenai very hard anymore since I have been abolished due to tailpipe emissions, I did catch a king a three weeks ago in Seward right off of Lowell Creek that I suspect was a spawner. They are in no doubt moving in as the sonar showed a number of them. I hope there's lots more than that.....
