Add $.70 to Anchorage prices and you will have it.

Ouch! Makes it worthwhile to fill the boat up in town and haul it down.

You gentlemen are making me feel better about our 8 kt speeds and 2.5 gal/hr burn rate.

Those that are successful in Alaska are those who are flexible, and allow the reality of life in Alaska to shape their dreams, vs. trying to force their dreams on the reality of Alaska.

If you have a tenuous grasp of reality, Alaska is not for you.

Brian - you could burn 10gph and run 32 knots and get there much faster...same amount of fuel used....... = 3.2 miles per gallon.

We used 17 gallons last sunday and gps track shows 115 miles total = 6.76 miles per gallon :-)

    Unleaded is $4.49 a gallon, at 100 gallons it's a $.02 off, at 300 gallons it's $.04 off.

True, but I can drive in a much more relaxed fashion. Get there? The journey is most of the point!

Pretty good burn rate you've got there. I've talked with folks that burn waaaay more fuel than that with their high-powered outboards.

But that is with out all the taxes and surcharges. I bet it is pushing $5.

We were in a riverboat - but it has a 6 degree bottom so not a true flat bottom The motor had zero hours on it (effinrude 50hp etec) running a prop....it got stronger during the day as the computer let it. You really have to pick your day on a boat like this but it did very good for us that day. He never took it past 5500rpm - which was 27mph - 5000 rpm it was running about 22mph (gps). about 70$ for a day on the sound - pretty good....
