Great looking rig Mr Jeff, is your son going to start running your old boat? Congrats on the new rig, sure you will get some blood on it soon.

Nice engine but just wait till you get the $850 or so bill for changing u joints. only reason i know that is my friend has a D6 in his bowpicker and thats what it cost him, its a whole assembly not just u joints. Lots of room around the engine for maintenance. Volvo just keeps pumping up that engine and getting more HP out of it.

Here's the power in my new rig, 300HP John Deere, Twin Disc trans, 1-3/4"shaft w/a 26x24 4 blade on the end of it.

    KodiakCombo,

I have the same power setup in mine, and so far I am happy. I get great mileage, pushing 3mpg so that helps pay for some of the volvo parts. How many hours are on it, and how are you getting it up here? I really like the power of the D6. Mine can do 37kts and you really don't feel the fuel loads much. Are you planning on going places you need that kind of range?

The have a new bolt on top for the raw water strainer so you can see into it without having to open it up, in case you are still looking to burn a few more dollars on it.

At seatrails I liked the 18-22knt cruise, I basically wanted more freeboard when I commercail jig cod, this thing has huge fisholes. At seatrails we loaded 8000lb.s onto it and it got up on step with ease. We dont plan to run on step with that load, but if we need to we can.

Deere are very nice engines, I wieghed out all pros and cons of diferent boats for years, this comes closest to what I want, it was litererly a tossup between another boat which was leaning more toward commecial fishing, I opted for the one that leaned more toward sport charters, they all have their pros and cons.

no BS, just a plain cabin layout, not full galley, no wifi, no bar, no webasto or espar heat, no frills, giant fish holes, and it can pack!

Very very nice! I know what elim meant, while it's not decked out in additional frills, she definitely doesn't look basic with the nice wood and trim inside. Should put a smile on your clients face for comfort though.

Seems just right, but no heat.....or just no espar heat? I know there are times when heat for a chilled client is pretty nice.
