I'm going to be honest....those lions need a "redo" from what I see. Mainly body posture and their faces,I've lived out west and I have seen my fair share of life size mountain lions, as well as live ones.

Thanks Frosty! I am glad to be able to have mounted him up for you. He is really a stunning grizzly - very nice fall hide!

I plan on getting some better photos of him with a proper camera - not the wide angle of the cell phone, which distorts perspective really weirdly, I have found - and backdrop that is not 'the shop' .

Default My first commissioned taxidermy job

I have just entered the world of taxidermy...hoping that by the time I retire in 10 years I'll have the experience and clients to make a modest secondary income. This deer is my very first commissioned work. I had some help and guidance from my good friend and fellow taxidermist at Tanana Taxidermy here in Fairbanks, but for the most part its all me. I definitely see room for improvement in many areas but overall I'm pleased with the result.Doug Carroll Blacktail (4).jpg

    Default altered bear

This is a neat project we just finished for a client. They wanted a bear "laying down" half mount. Since there is no such mount we had to start with a standing bear and make it work. You can click on the links to see the progress. We had to cut the shoulders, arms, wrists ect to get the correct pose. Then change out the closed mouth to a panting mount and foam everything back together. This bear was very large, but Spring bear in SE. The coat was certainly not the best, but the client was very proud of their archery kill.

We don't put too many critters on the wall, but I was pretty happy to get these two from 2016 up. My first moose bigger than a spike (cleaned the skull with a pressure washer) and my wife's first ram.
