    Default forcast 2007

Does anyone do a forcast for this upcoming duck season?

    Gary,

Usually Ducks Unlimited puts out a forecast later in the year. As I recall it's usually on a flyway basis.

    Default Me too

I found the numbers of birds to be down somewhat in 2006. Weather in my case probably had something to do with it. We had some serious cold and snow the first week of November that lasted through the month...it cut our season short. Maybe things will improve for 2007?

    Default Ok...

I don't feel too bad...we still managed to bag our share at the Stikine duck flats. It just wasn't the numbers we've had in recent years. If I could figure out the picture posting thing I'd post some.........

The survey is done annually by the USFWS in May and June and they study the number of wetlands and breeding ducks to come up with a Long Term Average. There is more that goes into it then that but thats the basics.
Also the survey help dictates a liberal or conservative season.

we had a few less ducks than last year, but a lot more are wintering here.
I choose to fly fish, not because its easy, but because its hard.
