    Default SE bear sighting

    http://juneauempire.com/local/2011-0...-spring-safely

Been a few years since I lived in Juneau, so not sure how early this is. Saw a post in the boating forum about someone out on the water in Whittier, saying snow pack is lowest he's seen in years. Sure seems like early spring here in the big city. Perhaps the bear itch gets scratched a little early this year, which is fine by me.

Seems this is pretty common occurence. Someone see a bear super early somewhere different every year and suddenly 'oh the bears are gonna be out early' theme goes around.

Same thing goes with the first report of someone catching a king. There's alway a few outliers.

Did you guys hear that someone caught 3 kings off of false outer this weekend?
I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

saw several different sets of brownie tracks in a basin north of juneau a couple weeks ago. one set was large and fresh enough for me and my friend to start wondering how hard it would be to fight off a hungry bear with a ski pole or ice axe.

A guy on King Arthur Drive in Meadow Lakes had his chicken coop raided by a brown bear early on Friday morning.
