I am in Anchorage and have been looking online (taxidermy.net) for taxidermy schools or anybody who teaches or knows taxidermy that would be willing to teach me how to do it. They show a couple of taxidermy schools in the local area but they don't exist. There is one up in fairbanks but I cant justify spending $10,000 on a 6 week class. I know how to cape, flesh, turn ears, split lips, eyes, noses, pull feet and salt. I know the basics and have a general idea how to do a manikin mounts but I want better instructions and to learn the tricks of the trade. I am a fast learner when it comes to hands on work and I am very artistic. I have also done bleached skull mounts on Deer, Elk, Antelope, black and brown bear, coyote and badger. I am a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to my work. If anyone is willing to help teach me I will be willing to help them with the the dirty work. Anyway hit me back and we will work out a DEAL.
